Switzerland recorded 55’654 new company registrations in 2025, marking the highest number ever registered in a single year.
According to the Institut für Jungunternehmen, this represents:
+5.1% growth compared to 2024
+34.7% growth compared to 2015
For international companies planning to expand to Switzerland, this is not just a statistic – it is a signal.
Switzerland continues to strengthen its position as one of Europe’s most stable and attractive jurisdictions for company formation.
Why international companies choose Switzerland
In our daily advisory work at IncoSwiss, we consistently see why international founders and corporate groups decide to establish Swiss entities. Switzerland offers a competitive and transparent tax system combined with political stability and strong legal certainty. Its regulatory framework is predictable and business-oriented, while the country’s banking infrastructure remains one of the most reputable and resilient globally.
In an increasingly volatile international environment, Switzerland offers something that has become rare: reliability.
Canton Zug – strongest growth in Switzerland
While new company registrations increased in 20 of 26 cantons, Canton Zug recorded the strongest growth nationwide in 2025: +19.0%.
Zug continues to confirm its position as one of Europe’s most dynamic business locations.
According to the Handelsregister- und Konkursamt des Kantons Zug:
3’688 new companies were incorporated in 2025 (record year)
43’275 companies were registered in Zug at the end of 2025
Net increase of 1’825 legal entities
Average commercial register processing time reduced to 4.1 working days
This combination of growth and administrative efficiency makes Zug particularly attractive for international structures.
Record growth – but also increasing compliance expectations
Switzerland recorded 14’958 bankruptcies in 2025, also a record level. Part of this increase is linked to a legislative change effective 1 January 2025, shifting certain public law claims into bankruptcy proceedings. For international companies, this underlines an important reality: Switzerland is business-friendly, but also compliance-driven. Proper structuring, accounting, governance and tax planning are essential from day one.
What this means for companies expanding to Switzerland in 2026
The 2025 statistics send a clear signal: entrepreneurial momentum in Switzerland remains strong, with Zug leading national growth and administrative processes becoming increasingly efficient. International business structures continue to choose the Swiss jurisdiction not by coincidence, but because of its stability, predictability and long-term strategic value.
For companies considering expansion to Switzerland, early planning is essential. The choice of legal form, whether an AG or a GmbH, must align with ownership structure, governance requirements and future exit plans. Director requirements, substance expectations and office setup need to be carefully structured from the beginning. Banking strategy, VAT registration and potential licensing obligations should also be evaluated in advance to avoid delays or compliance risks.
There is no standard solution when establishing a Swiss company. Each structure must reflect the company’s long-term objectives, international footprint and operational reality.
If you are planning a Swiss company formation, IncoSwiss supports international businesses throughout the entire process – from incorporation to providing a business address in Zug, Zürich or Geneva, Swiss resident director services, accounting and payroll, also licensing and trademark support.
If expanding to Switzerland is part of your strategic roadmap, our team is happy to guide you through the process and ensure your structure is set up correctly from day one.
